Meishu-sama, known as Mokichi Okada, was born in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan in 1882 and experienced a profound spiritual awakening that led him to establish the World Church of Messiah in 1935.
He faced significant hardships early in life, including poor health and the loss of his wife and child. These challenges led him to explore spiritual matters deeply. In 1926, Meishu-sama received a revelation that marked the beginning of his mission as a spiritual leader. He believed in his spiritual mission of creating a new culture and civilization characterized by health, happiness, and harmony, free from disease, poverty, and conflict.
Meishu-sama was born anew as a Messiah—a child of God—in April 1954, approximately 10 months before he transitioned to the spiritual world. He believed that humanity is destined to be born anew as children of God—Messiahs—and that everyone possesses the spirit of the Messiah within them. His mission was to complete the work started by Jesus Christ and to proclaim that all people are united under the name of the Messiah.
Meishu-sama passed away in 1955, but his teachings and practices continue to be influential through the World Church of Messiah under the guidance of our current spiritual leader, who is a direct descendant of Meishu-sama.
